With the whole Francesca story, the only reason why people are mad is yes the gender swap but also bc it ruins what the show has built. And plus, Francesca even told her mom that there are different types of love and not all have to be thrilling and fast paced. I loved her with John and she loved him, it states in the books. Though John has a cousin and ( spoiler alert ) his cousin thirsts after John’s wife which is her but John dies so the estate and whole thing goes to him because he’s a man. We’re in the 18th century still, the story stated clear that men get passed down homes, the money, everything of the last man. They switched it to a woman knowing that John will soon die bc this whole show is based on the books, the money, estate, cannot go to her bc she’s a woman, I mean why change it that if the featheringtons were going to lose their home/estate and wealth only because Sir featherington left and they don’t have a man in charge or any man to be the next featherington. The mondrich family, what was the point of that story of Mrs. Mondrich aunt died and having the estate passed down to her family bc she has sons, I mean what was the point of lady Danbury being in her spot today bc of her husband/son. You see, people like consistency, it’s not about being gay it’s more about the storyline. They showed us Francesca having a genuine connection with John and states in the books she’s always wanted to be a mom, she suffers with infertility and she’s mourned over John’s death. Though she does fall in love with his cousin and stays in the estate. Also, woman ( and in this show ) at those times we’re got shunned by society for being a rake, it’s known men do it but a ladies reputation is very important for the marriage views and all that, the show even states it, in the books John’s cousin is a rake, a man who sleeps with woman and is yk playboy kinda guy, since they gender swapped it, It contradicts everything that she has built, especially in season one when Anthony catches with the duke. Anthony forces, Daphne, and the Duke to marry because he has tainted Daphne. What was the point of gender shopping if in these times and in the show, women cannot be rakes and be mischievous. People are just upset that the show isn’t being constant and is twisting stories and revising them and not going along by the books, This is a fictional story, but it kind of discredits the author and what they have written.

It was complete nonsense that they spat on Francesca and Stirling's relationship like that. Michael (or Mikaela, gender swap is good) is only supposed to come in much later. They finally were showing a neurodivergent or introverted relationship - the quiet attraction, chemistry, the pleasure of feeling like-mindedness and joy and encouragement of one another's talent and interests (and obsessions in aspie/autistic case). As a person diagnosed w/ ASD, I finally felt my relationship with my highly introverted hubby was represented. Stirling and Francesca are supposed to have had a beautiful marriage, while Mikaela hides her feelings due to respect for her cousin. Only after Stirling is gone does Francesca entertain the relationship with Mikaela. Even though it's just fiction, it felt so awful to see neurodivergent/introvert representation, which was respected in the books, be thrown away in less than a minute in a popular show when they did such a realistic and good job of standing up to be accepted and seen.

The breathing is so weird here, it kind of reminds me of the ATLA Netflix disaster. I noticed a lot of people mentioned post production things that looked “off”… I’m wondering if it’s an issue of the actors not knowing if the camera was still on them when they were giving their lines. Like, maybe they were told it didn’t matter what the delivery looked like, assuming the camera would be panning around or the lines would be placed over a flashback or something? That would be on the writers and directors not telling one hand what the other should be doing. Especially since we’ve seen these actors and things they are capable of, so it’s definitely on whoever is in charge of framing these scenes, in regards to who dropped the ball this season in particular.

I completely disagree. I think season 3 was easily the best season yet. It was the most romantic and had the best side plots. Season 2 was great but it felt like waiting forever for them to just get together whereas this season gave us ups and downs and a chance to actually see the engagement and relationship struggles. Also the first time scene was so realistic and well done

Julia Cudney did the math and she did it HARD. She has math for the screen time of every character every major relation every everything lol Pen and Colin are second place with 100 min of screen time. Daph and Simon are first with 104 min. So they really didn’t have less screen time. It’s just the quality of their scenes sucks
